About This Report
The wave heights shown on this page are initialized by the various 9-band parameters from the Coastal Data Information Program. Angles are compensated with factors such as refraction and shoaling for each break while accounting for the periods of NW and SW swell direction as described in our how-to guide, The WetSand WaveCast Guide to Surf Forecasting.
The heights shown are in feet, showing the face height of the wave. This estimate shows the most significant wave height on the better sets; however, other factors need to be considered including tidal effects, where extreme high or low tides could hinder size. Additionally, rogue waves and forerunners tend not to show up on the 9-period band data, and as such, occasional larger waves are not recorded.
